Moments in Ministry

Doctrinal Statement

Food for Thought

Asshur shall not save us; we will not ride upon horses: neither will we say anymore to the work of our hands, Ye are our gods: for in Thee the fatherless findeth mercy. – Hosea 14:3

If I...have eaten my morsel myself alone, and the fatherless hath not eaten thereof; (For from my youth he was brought up with me, as with a father, and I have guided her from my mother's womb)...if I have lifted my hand against the fatherless, when I saw my help in the gate: Then let mine arm fall from my shoulder blade, and my arm to be broken from the bone. For destruction from God was a terror to me, and by reason of His highness I could not endure. – Job 31:16-23

Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world. – James 1:27

Loving Locally

Over the years, FTN has carried out a great deal of ministry overseas, but we have also quietly been building a ministry right here at home in Billings, MT. Our Billings outreach focuses on coming alongside of single moms and their children. Approximately 61,000 of Montana's children are going up in single-parent homes—and more than 30% of the children in Billings. Yet statistics tell us that nationwide only 1% of churches have any type of ministry to single parents.

We want to see that change, and we want it to start here.
So far, we have been able to set up a permanent clothing exchange for families in need as well as providing transportation to doctor's appointments, grocery shopping, and job training. We have sought to come alongside of the women we have worked with to offer friendship, counsel, and the love of Christ.

In late 2015, God provided an office space for the local ministry, which has allowed us to begin expanding even further.
We would love to see this ministry grow to include:

• After-school tutoring and mentoring for the children
• Life-skills classes for mothers and teens, such as:
- Job Skills, how to both get and keep a job
- Budgeting and finances
- Long-term thinking and planning
- Cooking and other homemaking skills
- Basic Auto Maintenance

We currently have three areas in which we need help:

1. Prayer - Doesn't matter what the ministry, if it is not bathed in prayer and conducted according to God's precepts it will fail. We need faithful prayer warriors. Please, email us to become part of the prayer team.

2. Workers - We need workers who would be willing to invest their time in the lives of these women and children. If you would be interested in helping with a class, providing transportation, tutoring, mentoring, or any other aspect of this ministry please drop us a note or call us at 406-208-7332.

3. Partners - Up to this point, this ministry has primarily been supported out of the personal funds of FTN staff. In order for it to grow, we need the support of partners, who have a burden for these women and children and who would be willing to make a monthly investment in their lives.
